Agasan woke with a yawn. Today was special. Agasan was going to meet a new girl at school.
He had a hearty breakfast and dressed in his favorite blue shirt and clean pants.
His Mom said, 'Be kind, be yourself, and you'll make a friend.' Agasan nodded.
Walking to school, Agasan felt butterflies fluttering in his tummy. It was a mix of nerves and excitement.
In class, the teacher said, 'Class, this is Maya. She's new. Say hi!'
Agasan shyly waved at Maya. She waved back with a bright smile that made him feel at ease.
During lunch, Agasan found Maya sitting alone. He took a deep breath and walked over.
He asked, 'Can I sit with you?' Maya beamed and nodded, 'Yes, please!'
They shared stories. Maya loved books and climbing trees. Agasan liked those too!
When the day ended, Maya said, 'Thanks for being my friend, Agasan.'
Agasan felt proud. Making a new friend wasn't as scary as he thought.
He ran home to tell his Mom about Maya and how they were going to climb trees together.
