Andy Ant was an ant with a plan! He wanted to build the biggest, bestest anthill the meadow had ever seen!
He scurried and hustled, collecting twigs and leaves. "Winter is coming!" he'd cheerfully wheeze.
Chirpy Cricket, lounging on a leaf nearby, chuckled. "Work, work, work! Why not sing and play, Andy?"
"There's plenty of time for fun," Chirpy crooned, strumming his banjo with a merry tune.
Andy, focused on his task, just shook his head. "I must prepare! Winter is ahead!"
Days turned into weeks, leaves turned brown and red. Andy's anthill grew taller, a cozy, safe bed.
Chirpy, still playing his banjo with a grin, didn't notice the first snowflake begin to spin.
Soon, the meadow was blanketed in white, a frosty sight. Chirpy shivered, his tune taking flight.
"Brrr! It's freezing!" Chirpy cried with a frown. His banjo lay silent, covered in snow, on the ground.
He saw Andy's anthill, warm and bright. "A-Andy?" he called, his voice trembling with fright.
Andy peeked out, his heart full of cheer. "Chirpy, come in! There's nothing to fear!"
Snuggling inside, Chirpy learned his lesson that day. It's always wise to work and play!
And that's how Andy Ant and Chirpy Cricket became the best of friends, sharing laughter and warmth till the very end!
