Billy blinked open his eyes and the room was bright. 'Oh no!' he thought.
He glanced at his clock and groaned. Is it already eight in the morning?
Jumping out of bed, his heart was pounding. 'School started at eight!' he gasped.
His clothes were on in a flash, and he dashed down the stairs, skipping breakfast.
Mom looked up, surprised. 'Why didn't your alarm wake you?' she asked.
Billy frowned. 'I guess I forgot to set it,' he mumbled, feeling bad.
Grabbing his backpack, he noticed his homework was not done. 'Oh no, not again,' he sighed.
At that moment, his little sister Jenny offered him a sandwich. 'For energy!' she smiled.
He hugged Jenny, taking the sandwich. 'You're the best,' he said with a sad smile.
Mom drove him to school, and Billy I feel like I'm thinking too much.. 'Will they be mad?'
Walking in, his teacher smiled. 'We all have those days, Billy. Come on in,' she said warmly.
In class, Billy decided he would make a plan, so tomorrow he'd be ready and on time.
