Bobby bounded through the bright gates of the zoo, his eyes wide with wonder. Ahead, animals appeared, great and small, in every shade and hue.
First, he sprinted to the monkey's mansion. There they were, flipping and flopping, full of monkey mischief, making marvelous melodies!
Next, it was off to see the tall giraffes, with necks so long and spots so bright. They seemed as delicate as daisies swaying in the gentle breeze.
Suddenly, Bobby noticed Ellie, the little elephant, all alone by the pond, with a tear that gleamed like a little gem on her cheek.
“Oh dear Ellie, what's the matter?” Bobby gingerly inquired. Ellie just sighed, her trunk drooping low.
Bobby thought for a moment, then said, “Let’s take a walk, just you and me.” They wandered past the pandas, the parrots, ‘til Ellie's tear was barely a shimmer.
They stopped at the lion's lair where the strong, golden king gave a gentle roar, as if to cheer them up. Bobby danced like a dandelion in the wind!
Off to the playful penguins next, waddling whimsically. Bobby slid on the ice with them, Ellie watched and felt her heart light like a feather.
Their final stop, the butterfly grove, where colors fluttered like confetti. Ellie smiled as a rainbow-winged butterfly landed on her trunk.
Bobby turned to Ellie, his eyes sparkling. He whispered, “I’m always here for you.” Ellie trumpeted joyfully, her heart as warm as the afternoon sun.
Bobby and Ellie wandered back, hand in trunk, past all their new friends, their hearts full of unspoken kindness.
They knew happiness grows brighter when it is shared. And so, Bobby and Ellie laughed and laughed, till the stars twinkled above.
