In a world that wasn't quite right, Coraline returned late one night. She saw a door, oh what a sight, But a closet bug gave her a fright.
From the shadows on a sofa wide, Other Mother sat with a strange pride. Coraline felt shivers inside, She took a chair, wish she could hide.
CHOMP went the bug in Other Mother's hand, Coraline felt disgust across the land. 'I want my real mum and dad,' she planned, 'Let me go,' she firmly did demand.
Other Mother with a crooked grin, Asked Coraline about her sin, 'Is that how you talk to kin?' 'You're not my mother,' said Coraline's chin.
'Apologize!' Other Mother did implore, But Coraline refused, wanted no more. The room began to warp and roar, Other Mother counted, scary to the core.
One, Two, and arrives at Three, Other Mother thin as a spooky tree. She grabbed Coraline's nose with glee, In the mirror's front did decree.
'You'll come out when you're our loving sprite,' Then vanished, leaving Coraline in fright. The room grew dim without a light, Then ghostly whispers took their flight.
Ghost Boy, Sweet Ghost Girl, Tall Ghost Girl, Spoke in whispers that did unfurl, 'Our names lost in the Beldame's whirl, We remember mummies, and their loving pearl.'
'The Beldame spied and lured us here, Sewed buttons, ate up our cheer. Now we're trapped, our lives unclear, Coraline, you're our hope, dear.'
With courage growing in her heart, Coraline vowed she'd play her part. She'd free the ghosts and make a start, And tear the Beldame's world apart.
She whispered, 'I will not bend,' To the ghosts who called her friend. 'I'll make this nightmare end, And to my world, I will send.'
So began Coraline's spooky quest, Outsmart the Beldame, do her best. With heart and courage in her chest, To set the ghostly children to rest.
