Once in a small village surrounded by wild green forests, there lived two friends named Leo and Maria.
Leo had short brown hair and was always full of energy. Maria had long black hair and liked to draw.
One hot summer afternoon, a faint smell of smoke wafted through their village.
As Leo and Maria played outside, they saw a haze of smoke rising behind the hill.
They knew from school what this meant—a wildfire! They had to warn everyone quickly.
Running through the village, they banged on doors, shouting, 'Fire! Fire in the forest!'
The villagers sprang into action, gathering what they could, thanking Leo and Maria for the alert.
Together with their families, Leo and Maria moved towards the safety of the riverbank.
Behind them, the sky grew orange, and the noise of the fire roared like a monster.
Leo felt scared, but he held Maria’s hand tightly. 'We'll be safe soon,' Maria said bravely.
The firefighters arrived, moving past them towards the fire, working to protect their homes.
Finally, they reached the river. Safe at last, they watched the smoke from a distance, hoping.
