Fizzy the fox woke up on a fine, funny Friday. It was his first day at the Woodland School!
Bouncing out of bed, he put on his favorite hat—a big, blue, brimmed beauty. 'Today will be grand!' he exclaimed.
His mom, Mrs. Fox, handed him a lunchbox. 'Remember to be kind and have fun,' she said with a wink.
Fizzy set off, his heart going thumpity-thump. He pranced past the tall trees and skipped over the swooshy streams.
When he reached the school, he saw friends of all kinds: bunnies with big ears, squirrels with swishy tails, and even a chatty chickadee!
The teacher, Mr. Owl, hooted at them from the front door. 'Welcome, everyone! Let's start our day with a song.'
And so they sang: 'La-dee-da, la-dee-dee! Learning's fun for you and me!' Fizzy felt his worries fade away.
Mr. Owl read them a story about a brave dinosaur. Fizzy imagined himself as the dino, roaring and exploring.
During arts and crafts, Fizzy made a funky fox mask. 'Fabulous!' said Mr. Owl. 'What an artist you are, Fizzy!'
At lunchtime, he shared his snacks with a shy hedgehog named Holly. They giggled and became instant friends.
The day flew by in a flurry of fun. As the school bell rang, Fizzy felt a wave of happiness.
Skipping home, Fizzy couldn’t wait to tell his mom all about his marvelous first day.
