Once upon a time, in a beautiful forest, there lived a little pig named Hongi. Hongi was a poaka kune kune pig with a round body and curly hair. He loved exploring the forest with his mama.
One sunny day, while Hongi and his mama were foraging for food, Hongi spotted a colorful butterfly fluttering by. He got so excited that he ran after it without noticing that he had wandered far from his mama.
When Hongi realized he was lost, he felt scared and started oinking for his mama. But no matter how loud he oinked, his mama couldn't hear him. Hongi looked around and saw a wise kiwi bird nearby.
The kiwi bird hopped over and said, 'Don't worry, little pig! I can help you find your way back. Just trust your instincts and listen to the sounds of the forest.' Hongi felt relieved and followed the kiwi's advice.
As Hongi walked through the forest, he heard a beautiful song. He looked up and saw a tui bird with shiny feathers. The tui said, 'Hello, Hongi! Sing your own song and let the forest guide you.' Hongi smiled and continued on his way.
Next, Hongi came across a wise morepork owl sitting on a branch. The morepork owl said, 'Hoo hoo! Trust your eyes, little pig! Look for familiar trees and landmarks to find your way back.' Hongi nodded and thanked the owl.
Finally, as Hongi was getting closer to his mama, he saw a cheeky fantail bird. The fantail bird chirped, 'Don't give up, Hongi! Use your nose to sniff out familiar smells. Your mama's scent will lead you home.' Hongi was so happy to see his mama just a little further ahead.
When Hongi finally found his mama, he hugged her tightly. He told her about his adventure and all the wise birds he had met. Hongi realized that even when he felt lost, he could find his way back with the help of the forest and its creatures.
From that day on, Hongi and his mama always explored the forest together. They never forgot the lessons they had learned and cherished the beauty of their home.
