On a stormy evening, Lena and Rick were driving home from a friend's house. The rain was pounding, tap-tap-tap, on the roof like a drummer in a parade.
Glittering lightning danced across the sky, casting spooky shadows on the road. Lena held Rick's hand tight. 'It's so magical!' she said.
'Rumble-rumble,' went the thunder! 'Boom-boom!' went their hearts. The night was alive with sounds as wild as a circus.
The rain was like a zillion tiny fairies tap-dancing on their car. Rick giggled, 'It's like a fairy party!'
Suddenly, the car hit a bump. 'Whoopsie-doodle!' they both exclaimed together and laughed. The car was a brave little ship sailing through the sea of rain.
They passed by a wiggly-waggly tree. Its branches swayed and danced, as if waving them hello. Lena waved back, 'Hello, Mr. Tree!'
The road was twisty-turny like a long piece of spaghetti. Rick imagined they were in a giant bowl of soup!
Suddenly, they saw a huge puddle ahead. 'Gla-SPLISH!' went their wheels, sending water flying! 'See you later, alligator!' Lena joked.
They drove past a pond where frogs were hopping joyously. 'Ribbit-ribbit,' croaked the frogs, enjoying the rain like it was the best show ever.
Finally, the rain began to slow, and a rainbow peeked out. It was like a colorful bridge in the sky. 'Look, Rick!' Lena exclaimed in wonder.
As they neared home, they both felt like they had been on a grand adventure. 'Home again, home again, jiggity-jig!' Rick sang.
Inside, they got cozy with hot chocolate. Rainy nights could be fun and magical, after all!
