Once upon a time, in a cozy little town in the United States, there lived a friendly family of four. Mr. and Mrs. Johnson were loving parents to two wonderful kids, Lily and Ben. Lily, at eight years old, was a bright and caring girl, and her younger brother Ben, who was seven, was playful and full of energy. One sunny afternoon, while playing in their backyard, Lily and Ben stumbled upon a tiny, injured bird. Its wing had been hurt, and it couldn't fly anymore. Feeling sad for the little creature, they carefully picked it up and rushed inside to their mom.

Mrs. Johnson, seeing the injured bird, gently cradled the little creature in her hands. She explained to the children that the bird was defenseless and couldn't survive on its own in the wild. She told them that they had to take care of it until it got better. Lily and Ben were excited at the thought of taking care of a real live bird. They created a cozy nest using an old shoebox, lined it with soft cotton, and placed the bird in it. They decided to name it Charlie because it looked just like a cheerful little Charlie to them.

Days turned into weeks, and Charlie started to heal. The children dedicated their time to his endless needs. They fed him worms, kept him warm, and played soothing music for him. They made sure he was safe from any harm that might come his way. One sunny day, Mrs. Johnson called everyone to the living room. She had important news to share. She told them that Charlie was healthy and would soon be strong enough to fly. She also explained that Charlie belonged to the outside world and needed to be set free so he could be with his family and friends in the sky.

Lily and Ben exchanged glances, their hearts sinking at the thought of saying goodbye to Charlie. Tears welled up in their eyes, but deep down, they knew that despite their love for Charlie, they had to do the right thing. The next morning, the family gathered together in the backyard.
