Lila woke up early. Today was a special day. She would cook fry bread with Grandma.
Lila washed her hands carefully. Grandma smiled and gave her a hug. 'Ready, Lila?'
'Yes!' Lila said. 'I’m ready to make the best fry bread ever!'
Grandma showed Lila the ingredients: flour, salt, baking powder, and water.
Lila mixed the flour, salt, and baking powder in a big bowl.
Grandma added the water, a little at a time. Lila stirred slowly.
Soon, they had a soft dough. 'Knead it gently,' Grandma said.
Lila pushed and pulled the dough. It felt soft and warm in her hands.
Next, they made small balls of dough. Lila flattened them with her fingers.
Grandma heated the oil in a big pan. 'Be careful, it's hot,' she warned.
Lila put the dough into the pan. It sizzled and puffed up.
After a few minutes, the fry bread was golden and crispy. 'You did a great job, Lila!'
