Lila was a little black girl with curly hair and big brown eyes. She loved spending time with her grandmother, Grandma Rose. One day, Grandma Rose said, 'Lila, I want to teach you something special. I want to teach you how to sew!'
Lila was excited! She sat next to Grandma Rose, who had soft wrinkled hands. 'First, we need to choose some fabric,' Grandma Rose said. They picked out a pretty pink fabric with tiny flowers on it.
Grandma Rose showed Lila how to thread the needle and tie a knot at the end. 'Now, let's start sewing!' Grandma Rose said with a smile. Lila carefully pushed the needle through the fabric and pulled the thread. She made tiny, neat stitches.
As Lila kept sewing, her stitches became better and better. She sewed straight lines and even made some curvy patterns. Grandma Rose was proud of her. 'You're doing great, Lila! Sewing takes practice, but you're a natural!'
Lila and Grandma Rose spent the whole afternoon sewing. They made beautiful pillows, a shirt for Lila's doll, and even fancy placemats. Lila was proud of what she had sewn and couldn't wait to show her friends!
