Once upon a time in the peaceful garden, there was a little snail named Sammy. Sammy loved to explore during the day, but when night came, Sammy had a hard time falling asleep. Every night, Sammy would toss and turn, unable to close his little snail eyes.
One day, Sammy's wise friend, Mr. Owl, noticed Sammy's tiredness. Mr. Owl swooped down and perched on a branch nearby. He asked Sammy, 'Why are you having trouble falling asleep, little snail?'
Sammy sighed and said, 'I keep thinking about all the exciting things I did during the day. My mind just won't quiet down when it's time to sleep.'
Mr. Owl smiled warmly and said, 'Sammy, my friend, I have a special trick that might help. It's called mindfulness. Mindfulness means paying attention to the present moment without worrying about the past or the future.'
Sammy was curious. 'How do I do that, Mr. Owl?' he asked.
Mr. Owl gently replied, 'When you're ready to sleep, close your eyes and take a deep breath. Imagine you're a sleepy snail, slowly moving forward on a leaf. And as you move, let go of all the thoughts buzzing in your mind.'
Sammy tried Mr. Owl's trick that very night. He closed his eyes, took a deep breath, and imagined himself as a sleepy snail on a leaf. He let go of all the thoughts and felt the calmness wash over him.
Before Sammy knew it, he was fast asleep, dreaming sweet dreams. From that day forward, Sammy remembered Mr. Owl's trick and used mindfulness to help him fall asleep peacefully every night.
