Once upon a long time ago, in a land of stars that sparkled and glowed, the Bodhisattva was born as Ajahn Disapamokkha. He was wise and kind, a leader to all, with friends both big and small.
Among his 500 disciples, there was a man named Sanjiva. Sanji, as he liked to be called, had a long, curly beard and loved to wear bright robes that flowed in the breeze.
Sanji had a peculiar gift; he knew a mantra to bring the dead back to life. But oh dear, he forgot to learn the mantra for protection that night.
One day, on a great big hill, Sanji met his friend, Nil. 'Come my friend, follow me,' said Sanji with glee, 'I'll show you something spectacular, you'll surely agree!'
With a wink and a grin, Sanji chanted his mantra: 'Rise again, rise again, back to life's refrain!' He waved his hands and spun around, sending magic all over the ground.
Up from the ground did a flower burst, with colors so bright, it quenched their thirst! 'Wow!' said Nil and started to cheer, 'But Sanji, where are the animals that should appear?'
Sanji scratched his head and looked quite stunned. 'Hmm,' he thought, 'Did I goof up my chant, just a little pun?'
Then a rustling sound came from near a tree, and out popped a bunny as quick as can be! It wiggled its nose and hopped around, making Sanji laugh with a silly sound.
'Hippity-hop, what a delight!' said Sanji, 'But wait, there's more to this sight!' More animals rose from the earth below, each one with a funny glow.
An elephant appeared with a trumpet sound, then a monkey twirled all around. With each chant, the scene grew more bright, filled with friends from day to night.
But soon, a storm began to swirl, threatening to end their magical twirl. 'Uh-oh,' said Nil, 'We need protection fast, or all this fun won't last!'
Ajahn Disapamokkha arrived in a flash, calming the storm with a gentle lash. 'Sanji, my dear, your heart's so pure, but don't forget your mantra for endure.'
Sanji smiled, then hugged his friend tight. 'Thank you, Ajahn, for making things right.' With newfound wisdom and delight, they all laughed and danced into the night.
