High in the sky, way up above the clouds, lived a sleepy little moon. Not just any moon, oh no, this moon was known as Sleepy Moon.
Now, Sleepy Moon loved to sleep. He dreamt of moon cheese and counting sheep that leaped over a star-speckled fence.
But there was one tiny problem. Sleepy Moon could only sleep when it was dark, and the sun, oh that bright, sunny sun, just wouldn't set!
"Wakey, wakey!" blared the sun every morning. "Time to rise and shine!"
Sleepy Moon would groan and pull a fluffy cloud over his head. "Oh, sunshine," he'd mumble, "just five more minutes?"
The sun would just giggle. "Five minutes? You said that hours ago! It's time for the birds to tweet and the flowers to greet the day!"
So, Sleepy Moon had to stay awake all day, watching the world scurry below. He saw children building sandcastles and puppies chasing butterflies.
He saw fluffy clouds drift by like cotton candy and airplanes drawing white lines on the blue canvas of the sky.
All day long, Sleepy Moon would yawn and count down the hours until the sun finally decided to call it a day.
"Oh, how I long for the sweet embrace of slumber," Sleepy Moon would sigh, his eyelids drooping lower and lower.
Finally, as the day began to cool and the shadows grew long, the sun would start to dip below the horizon, painting the sky in hues of orange, pink, and purple.
"Good night, Sleepy Moon," the sun would whisper, sinking beneath the horizon. "Sweet dreams!"
And with a contented sigh, Sleepy Moon would finally close his eyes, ready for a long, peaceful sleep, dreaming of moon cheese and leaping sheep.
