Sunita rushed through the front door, her schoolbag bouncing behind her. She exclaimed, "Mummy, I'm back home".
Her mother, in the kitchen, was stirring a pot while on a work call.
The aroma of spices filled the air as Sunita greeted her with a smile. Mother asked her, "How was your day, sweetie?"
Sunita shared her day's adventure, her voice full of excitement. Sunita said, "Today, we learned about different kinds of profession, had games session too"
Her mother listened, nodding, her eyes tired but warm.
Homework done, Sunita noticed her mother's juggling of chores and work.
Curiosity piqued, Sunita asked about her mother's day at work.
With a deep sigh, her mother shared the day's hectic events. Mother said, "I'd a project to complete by end of the day, cooked food for everyone, got your study materials from the shop, washed your P. E. uniform, washed utensils, dusting and cleaning of the house, etc.
Sunita realized the long hours and little rest her mother had.
A promise formed in Sunita's heart to help ease her load. Sunita said, "mummy, I'll be setting up my bed after I gets up in the morning, get ready on my own, buy my own study materials and wash my plate after having meals.
Sharing her plan, her mother's eyes shimmered with unspoken thanks. Mother said, "I love you, my baby! Thank you so much!"
The warmth of a hug sealed their shared understanding and love.
