Once upon a time, there was a little girl called Lucy. She was very poor and had to sell matches on the streets to help her family. Lucy was really cold because she didn't have any warm clothes.

On a snowy New Year's Eve, Lucy couldn't go home because nobody wanted to buy her matches. She was shivering with cold and felt very hungry.

To keep herself warm, Lucy lit a match and the magic began. With each match, she saw beautiful things: a warm fireplace, a delicious feast, and her loving grandma. But as soon as the match burned out, everything vanished.

As she was lighting the last match, Lucy's grandma took her hand and they flew up to the stars, where they would never feel cold or hungry again. The next morning, people found the little girl with a smile on her face, surrounded by burned matches.
