Reflection Questions
Long ago, when the world was young, two mighty gods stood by the sea.
The male god, Tāne, wore spirals on his face, showing strength and wisdom.
The female god, Hine, had koru patterns, each twist a tale of life and birth.
Together, they watched over the Spiral Shore, a stretch of sand carved by time.
The shore’s sand was soft and warm, with lines like their skin, telling stories.
One day, Tāne and Hine decided to give a gift to the children of earth.
They gathered shells and seaweed, weaving them with whispers of the sea.
The gift was a cloak, rainbow-coloured, wrapped with the power of the ocean.
This cloak gave courage to the wearer, and understanding of earth’s old tales.
A young child, curious and bold, approached the gods to accept the mantle.
With the cloak around their shoulders, they could feel the spirit of the land.
As the kid walked the Spiral Shore, they promised to care for the earth and sea.
