The sun peeked out, bright and early, shining on a day that was anything but surly!
It was a big day for Little School, a day for sandy shores and a GIANT swimming pool!
All the kids were buzzing, excited to trade their books for their best swimming kicks!
They packed their towels, their sunscreen too, and enough snacks for the whole school crew!
The bus rumbled and rolled, down streets and roads, carrying a busload of giggling loads.
Finally, after a journey so bright, the bus stopped short, in the warm, golden light.
The beach! It stretched out like a giant blue plate, with waves that whispered, "Come on, let's celebrate!"
"Hurray!" the children cried, as they hopped off the bus, "A day at the beach, oh what fun it is!"
They built sandcastles, tall and so grand, decorated with seaweed and shells they had planned.
They splashed in the water, cool and so blue, with the sun as their friend, watching over the crew.
But wait...what was that? A funny, round thing, bobbing in the water, with no song to sing?
It drifted closer, this curious sight, and out popped a head, giving everyone a fright!
A tiny sea turtle, lost and all alone, had wandered too far, away from its home.
The children gathered 'round, with hearts feeling kind, determined to help this new friend they did find.
They knew just what to do, these bright little stars, they gently guided the turtle back past the sandbars.
The turtle, so grateful, gave a little wave, disappearing in the water, safe and so brave.
The children cheered, their hearts light and free, happy to help a creature from the deep blue sea.
As the sun started to set, painting the sky, it was time to go home, but with a happy sigh.
They boarded the bus, their faces all aglow, with a story to tell, of a tiny turtle they helped let go.
The day at the beach, a memory to keep, of friendship and kindness, running oh so deep!
