Bedtime Story | The Wise Old Lady and the Nakshi Kantha Quilts

Once upon a time, in a small village in Bangladesh, there lived a wise old lady named Nani Buri. She was known for her incredible skill in weaving beautiful Nakshi Kantha quilts. These quilts were not just ordinary blankets, but they were filled with stories and life lessons that brought warmth to the heart, mind, and soul. One cold winter's day, Nani Buri decided to make a special quilt for a young boy named Khokon. Khokon loved listening to stories and Nani Buri knew just how to fill his quilt with the most enchanting tales. First, a clever fox named Shayal came forward. Shayal loved to play tricks and had a mischievous gleam in her eyes. Nani Buri asked Shayal to share a story that taught the importance of honesty. Shayal weaved a tale about a little rabbit who learned that lying can only lead to trouble. Khokon listened intently, learning that honesty is always the best policy. Next, Nani Buri called upon an old lady named Dadi Buri. Dadi Buri was full of wisdom and had experienced many things in her long life. Nani Buri asked Dadi Buri to share a story about kindness. Dadi Buri weaved a tale about a kind-hearted girl who rescued a wounded bird and nursed it back to health. Fazila weaved a beautiful tale about how the villagers came together to build a bridge, which connected their village to others. Khokon understood that we are all connected and together we can accomplish great things. The chickens, led by Murgi, were the final participants in the weaving circle. They clucked and chirped with excitement as Nani Buri asked them to share a story about bravery. Murgi told a story about a little chicken who faced her fears and saved her friends from danger. Khokon cuddled up under the quilt and felt the warmth of not only the fabric but also the stories that had been shared. From that day on, Khokon understood the true power of stories. They kept him warm in more ways than one.
