Sofia lived on a big, big farm, where mooing cows and clucking chickens kept her company all day long. Each night, her Grandma would sit her down for a fantastical story about the farm animals. ‘Tonight,’ Grandma said, ‘Let me tell you about Brownie, the brave little horse.’
Brownie was as brave as a lion, though smaller in size. One day, he saw that little Lenny the lamb was sad and dared to ask why. ‘It’s because I feel small and shy,’ Lenny said with a sigh.
Brownie neighed, ‘Do not fear! Let me tell you something, dear. Small or big, brave or meek, It's the heart that makes us unique.’ Lenny’s eyes widened with glee, feeling a sense of comfort, finally.
Grandma paused and asked, ‘What did Brownie teach Lenny with his kind actions?’ Sofia thought, then said with a grin, ‘He taught Lenny to love who he is within.’
Next, Grandma flipped to the tale of Cluck, the curious chicken, who always went on adventures with a quick cluck-cluck. One day, Cluck saw Mrs. Moo, the cow, looking quite blue.
'Why so glum, Mrs. Moo?' asked Cluck with a peck and a zoom. Mrs. Moo replied with a sigh, ‘I feel like I don’t fit in, no matter how I try.’
Cluck clucked again and said, ‘You are perfect just as you are, my friend. So never fret or fall apart, for you belong here with all your heart.’
Grandma then asked once more, ‘Sofia, what’s the lesson we explore?’ Sofia answered with a cheer, ‘That we are all special and loved, that’s clear!’
For the grand finale, Grandma spoke of Silky, the sly fox, and Shep, the loyal dog, who once had a spat. Silky took Shep’s bone and ran, causing a commotion through the barn.
Shep chased Silky with a bark, while Silky dashed through the farm park. Silky reached a fence too high, and said, ‘I’m sorry, Shep, I didn’t mean to lie.’
Shep’s fierce growl turned into a grin, ‘Apology accepted, let’s not sin. From now on, let’s share and care, making this farm a home fair and square.’
Grandma closed the book that night, ‘Sofia, what’s the lesson from Shep’s insight?’ Sofia said with wise delight, ‘To forgive is to love and make things right.’
