Two friends were passing through a dense forest.
They saw a bear coming towards them.
One friend quickly climbed a tall tree and hid.
The other friend stood there helplessly.
He remembered a lesson from school that bears do not hunt dead men.
He pretended to be dead by lying flat on the ground and holding his breath.
The bear came, smelled him, and went away.
His friend came down from the tree and asked what the bear said.
He replied, 'The bear told me that one who runs away in times of trouble is not a true friend.'
