Once upon a time, in a small glass bowl, lived Fred the fish.

Fred swam round and round, his fins brushing the bowl's edge.

He looked out at the wide, blue ocean and dreamed of swimming there.

But every time Fred tried, he met the glass wall. Bonk!

Fred watched the other fish swim freely. 'Why can't I?' he thought.

Jane, a kind girl, fed Fred every day and cleaned his bowl.

'Don't worry, Fred,' Jane said softly, 'You are safe in here.'

Fred appreciated Jane, but he still wished for more space to explore.

One day, Jane left the bowl near the window. The ocean called to Fred.

A big wind came and tipped the bowl over! Splash! Fred was free!

But the outside was scary. Fred missed the safety of his bowl.

Jane found him and gently put him back. 'I'm here, Fred,' she said.

Fred realized that while the bowl wasn't the ocean, it was his safe home.
